Yes they do
An article just recently said they were losing 1/3rd of their work force. I wouldn't be surprised if that number was higher. People do not want to work for Google because they would rather get real work done than sit in a nursey and play with office toys all day. That is just something Google simply can't provide to those who really enjoy what they do and want to work. And adding thousands every year? That is just false. No company hires thousands every year. You are looking at a couple hundred and that is being generous with the numbers.

Google is getting the best and the brightest that MS can only dream about.

So where is the best and brightest at Google? I have yet to see them. The services and products that Google provides shows no indications of these supposedly best and brightest that you always talk about. To put it nicely, Google gets the second hand employees. The ones who steal ideas. The ones that just want to play with silly putty all day. Meanwhile the true elite are working for the big name companies like Microsoft and Yahoo.
