Fed doesn't print money
The Treasury does that. The Fed just creates loans and makes the money appear in member banks. Poof, instant cash. They don't even have to bother printing it. The banks then pay back with whatever token interest rate is in effect. The Fed can make money disappear just like they create it. Notice they don't publish the M3 anymore...the money supply. There's a reason our currency is going down the crapper.

I wouldn't be so sure the economy will recover simply because it always has. On a long enough time line even Chicken Little will be right some day. The housing market has a long way to fall yet. The current flood of refi's will keep a lot of people from losing their homes but that's just treading water.

I've lived through the ups and downs before. The crash in the 80's, the .com bust in '99...none of them were like this. There's a lot wrong and we've still got an idiot at the wheel another year.
