Charity is a lazy and uncreative fix to the greater problem
"We are now in a 'Greed' era"

We have always been in an era of "greed"...it's interesting to hear all these responses as if we were *poof* dropped off on Earth from some human high in the sky. We grew up on earth over millions of years and our lives have always depended on how many resources you could gather and control. Granted it is now very obvious that excessive power and resource grabbing has created massive disparagements, but the seeds for our actions now were developed a long time ago. The key to a better world isn't about constantly tweaking what we know to try to make something better, but to constantly look outside of our comfort zone to bring in new information. Gates and Yunus are completely misdirected with their efforts. The overall system that exists today be it Democracy, Imperialism, Communism, Corporatism...etc., have created the ills that we now see. Merely putting a band aid on the wounds of the people on the bottom getting the shaft is not the solution. A massive overhaul of our general foundation is what is needed. Yes, it almost seems impossible, but it is the only way. What happens when all these poor people that Gates and Yunus are helping, grow and gather more power? Are they going to suddenly fix the system or act in a way completely separate from the problems that exist everywhere else? A new motivation needs to be developed to grow beyond our basic "survive by securing resources." We've got the survival thing down pat, now we need to work on the next level of our growth. Think about it, in 1,000 years we're not going to have inefficient corporations advertising for the best way to catch your attention so they can get your money. It scares me that we as a species have given Gates that much power. Charity is a farce and a lazy fix for a poorly designed system. We need to move from taking advantage of our environment just to survive and transition to a species that acknowledges its power to affect that environment and so must continually take on a more intelligent and constantly evolving creator role to make things prettier.
