Actually, neither do you
We all know that many folks despise Bill Gates, Microsoft, Windows, etc etc. Its old and tired already. Your article basically says that BillG is bad, Microsoft is bad, all corporations are bad, capitalism is bad (EXCEPT APPLE OF COURSE!) and so BillG I guess is not allowed to form an opinion.

The fact is, BillG is expressing a view of where he thinks the world should go. He isnt stating "this is what *I* have done". So I think that maybe for you and your fellow revolutionaries, this probably isnt such a good speech to target.

Whether or not he misses or hits the point, he certainly HAS a point. The point is that all companies (MSFT included by implication) must TRY to do better.

Theres a weird social thing here... Most of those who despise MSFT, BillG, capitalism, et al (EXCEPT APPLE!) are pretty much self proclaimed new world socialists. The idea is that all people are equal and deserve consideration and respect and attention, etc. That even the LOWEST CRIMINAL must be given a second chance and MUST be heard!!! But yet somehow, BillG is, in the minds of these delusional masses, BENEATH being heard because of his "crimes".

Surely anyone objective and rational, must look at these folks (no matter how many 10 dollar word laden disertations they vomit forth) and see the insanity there.

BillG is entitled to his opinion on what the FUTURE of capitalism should be. Perhaps MOST importantly BECAUSE of where he came from.

Of course personally, I think BillG is WAY off. I agree with the ZDNet columnist 150%. I say BillG and the lot should give us this ultra PC, nuvo billionaire cum bleeding heart crap, and just run their companies fairly and well. The "3rd world" has an infinite appetite for funds and with the pattern thats been set, you'll NEVER break the cycle of corruption as long as we live in a world of finite resources.
