Fire engines are red, but red things aren't fire engines...

Just because the "socialist" Soviet Union was "evil" doesn't mean that all socialism is evil. First of all, it doesn't have to be absolute. Socialism can be used targettedly as can capitalism. We've swung from one extreme to the other, when both have their particular forte's.

There are many (so called) "socialist" countries that are not dictatorial or evil. Sweden, Holland, etc. have strong democracies and yet are significantly socialistic.

Unfortunately my detractors are confusing propaganda with real life. Capitalism has it's place as does socialism. Just because Republican talking points have said otherwise for over half a century, doesn't make what they say true.

I applaud idealism, but sometimes it becomes it's own blindness. Seeing the negatives of capitalism or positives of socialism neither makes me a supporter of dictators or evil in general. Nor for that matter, does it make me a socialist. It just makes me a pragmatist as opposed to other ideologues.
