Apple senior executives get bonuses, Jobs still at $1

These pay scales are MUCH LOWER (better) than for most big CEOs...

For a company its size, Apple paying its senior executives less than a Million dollars a year, with only equal bonuses, may seem like A LOT of money to most of us (it's a FORTUNE to me), but it's MINISCULE contrasted with what the senior executives are getting in most large companies these days.

I abandoned the Mac platform in 2003 and haven't bought an iPod or iPhone (big fan of Quicktime Pro, though), largely because I think Apple's products are overpriced and the computer platform, while often superior is more limited in software choices and online compatibilities and choices can be more expensive, BUT I have to admire a company that's not paying its executives $20... $40 million a year and more, plus bonuses often two to ten times that much -- as are MANY of the other big Fortune 500 companies -- often even when many of them have unprofitable years.

Steve Jobs can AFFORD to work for $1 a year because he owns 5.5 million shares of his company's stock... That he likely lost million$ when the stock price dropped 11% Tuesday is the risk he takes in having ownership of his company, but he's still in the position to absorb it, and he's smart and savvy enough to likely help Apple turn things back around yet again.

And whether he does, or not, the way the company is paying its senior executives is A LOT BETTER than what most big companies are doing these days, and is to be applauded.
