It might be because...
...as reprehensible as some of MS' business practices are, and as well deserved as many of the legal actions against them are, there are occasions when they're in the right and should be defended.

I'm no fan of MS either, but that doesn't mean they're always wrong, or that their adversaries are always right.

In the present case, I think we may get to see how many friends MS has in the Chinese Communist Party leadership. Despite all of the talk about the rule of law, mainland China does not have an independent judiciary (such a thing is inconceivable in a Communist dictatorship) and without an independent judiciary, there is no rule of law. Best that can be hoped for is a decision by the Communist Party to allow justice to take its course.
