RE: (Photos: Cracking open the XBox 360 Elite)
These pictures show the Fall 07 (aka outdated Zephyr 90nmn die) model. The newer model manufactured after Sept. 2007 (code named "Falcon" ) is based on a 65nm tech. The "Falcon" consoles do not have the "heat pipe" heatsink and has only two (not three) torid Inductor rings.

Why does any of this matter? The newer version runs 20-30% cooler which many hope that will make the consoles last longer. It is widely reported that the older version of the console has a 30% failure rate -- attributed to overheating.

These are nice pictures of the Xbox 360 Elite(Zephyr); but if you a ******** XBOX gamer, these may not be what you want to see inside your console.
