Re: why did ms want to stop a spyware bill?
Did you read the article by chance? It made it pretty clear that they were trying to stop the bill because it was so broad that it wouldn't cover just spyware, but things such as auto-updaters as well. It sounds like the classic shotgun to kill a fly approach.
