You are right: contributions to a politician in exchange of FAVORable laws and regulations for you and the opposite for your competitors is NOT bribery.

But giving money to politicians (or other officials) in exchange of FAVORable laws and regulations for you and the opposite for your competitors IS bribery.

I can see the SHARP distinction between these two situations.
