C'mon Bill, I thought only Linux advocates refused to pay for useful software and wanted everything for free? That's a joke, Bill. Don't address it.
I imagine, though, that since MSMP will still be available for zero-cost that no competitor, Real, for example, will dare charge OEMs for their own client. The money really isn't in the client. Consider, these competitors don't make money on their video clients. Real, as an example again, makes their profit on the sales of the server space and encoders. Apple makes their profit on both services and on Macs, which must be purchased to encode the video? The model is similar to Adobe's model for PDF clients.
