Granted. The individual in my...
organization who is in charge of my Linux boxes started in Windows as well. But when he made the switch to Linux, he realized he could no longer be the expert in Windows he once was. It's nice to think we all can be experts in all things... but that is impossible. Jack of all trades and master of none doesn't cut it and especially in IT.

While Microsoft has serious problems, I'll stack my W2k servers against any other server on the market (with maybe the exception of Novell, which is another sad story in itself). And from what I've seen in Linux so far, it is very good in the server arena as well.

The root of the problem in Widows is MS's arrogant MO. Which has prevented them from providing the average commercial consumer the IT experience he deserves.

If you are trully a professional in your arena, your focus is on the products and services you deal with. And the consumer of those products.

I take my GM product to GM when I have issues and not to Ford. I'm sure Ford has lots of opinions about GM. But they are not a GM professional.
