...records more than just temps, but also CO2 levels. The general trend has been for CO2 levels to follow warming rather than precede. If CO2 levels were responsible for warming, then the data would show an increase before the warming trend. This is not indicated from the data. Warming would release CO2 from the oceans, causing an increse in atmospheric CO2 much like what we see happening today. The question is, which is the cause and which is the result?
The graphs on the link that you provided were unreadable. Try this site: http://co2.cms.udel.edu/Increasing_Atmospheric_CO2.htm
You will notice that CO2 levels rise with warming temperatures, and fall with cooling. This trend makes sense considering that the solubility of CO2 in water is inversely proportional to temperature. Notice also that there has been a warming trend roughly every 100,000 years, with the current warming coming right on schedule. Once again, the data does not support the claim that the current warming is being caused by the effects of man. We are only now beginning to be able to model climate change, and there are many possible factors that could influence our planet. Many theories have been advanced, including solar and exta solar phenomena. In time, we will understand what is happening, but that time is not now. - Posted by: itpro_z Posted on: 12/20/07 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
