I'll agree you make a valid point,
but what are some suggestions for the social cripples who are otherwise gifted with complex technology (server setups, virtualization, networking WANs, et cetera)?

It's not all about the mother either. When there aren't genetic influences, there are environmental ones. Meanwhile, our school systems - for decades - have pandered to bullies rather than fixing the problems that do render some people socially crippled.

It's not as easy as you claim it to be.

Also, there are plenty of 20~, 30~, 40~, and 50~somethings that don't know a desktop from a doorstop. IT, as long as people don't get depressed, can easily remain a lifelong career choice.

Not bad for a self-proclaimed geek, wouldn't you say? happy

Besides, I do have some people skills. Not public speaking to mass audiences (I'm not a cult leader, nor will I ever be), but small groups or individuals.
