IE and WiMPy are just the beginning!!
I would like to see the following also unbundled from Win$ux:
1. Memory management: users should be able to choose their own.
2. Windows manager: users should be able to install KDE or Gnome, but not the OS X windows manager because that would be blasphemy.
3. Process scheduler: there has been no real innovation in process scheduling algorithms because Micro$ux is a monopoly and forces everyone to use the one that is BUNDLED with Win$ux. There should be a free market to supply process schedulers and users could pick which one they want to pay for.
4. Firewall: this is a big one. Win$ux should ship with no firewall installed. That way, users could purchase the best one on the market.
5. DirectX: DirectX is not a standard. The standard is OpenGL. Micro$ux should be forced to use OpenGL.
6. File system: NTFS is proprietary and is therefore evil. Win$ux should ship with no support for any file systems. The install disk would offer a list of file systems for the user to choose from but to ensure there is no favoritism, Micro$ux would have to be split into 2 companies: an OS company and an OS Install company. That way, the OS Install company could create the install disk and it would be totally separate from the OS itself. Actually, wait, that too is anti-competitive! No, Micr$ux must unbundle the install routines from the OS. To be fair, I think an international committed, led by the EU, should be in charge of creating the Win$ux install disks. Yeah, that is even better.
