Nice!
?Wipe away all the conspiracy hyperbole and the fact remains that the oil companies will continue to wipe out alternatives simply because oil IS cheaper than the alternatives, and will continue to be so for quite some time to come. The day the price of oil hits the "tipping point" of where investors decided that alternatives make economic sense, it will happen.?

There is no conspiracy only the facts you refuse to see. Oil is ?cheaper? because it is subsidized heavily by the government. And the member of Congress and the Senate as well as the President receive very large contribution from big oil. And that is not a conspiracy either but a matter of fact obtainable by the Freedom of Information Act. Take away the subsidies and tax breaks and all of a sudden the alternatives are cheaper. But big oil doesn't want that just like the automakers don't want to increase fuel efficiency. It will cut into their already obscene profits.

?But I have a simpler question for you: What makes you think that politicians (who, ironically are the same people you basically claim are owned by the oil industry) are qualified to objectivly pick which technology is right to replace oil? After all the material you've supplied, what rational person could conclude such a thing??

Personally I don't think or believe most politicians know their @ss from a hole in the ground. But the decision should lie with the real experts and that would be the scientific communities that do have a clue. But many of them have been bought as well by big oil to shut their yaps. This is fact. I have already done some searching for you, now you exercise your right to obtain information about who is paying whom and how much.

?But don't believe me; look at the ethenol fiasco; it's far more expensive than oil. After all of the factors of production are considered, uses more oil, is actually more polluting, taxes natural resources far more, and is even now globally affecting the cost of everything from food to real-estate. All this because the all-knowing soviet-style centeral-planning politicians decided that ethenol was to be the solution to our energy and environmental problems. Oh, and this all happened even against the interests of the all-powerful oil industry that supposedly controls us all.?

I have been against ethanol from day one. It is not viable for many reasons. Also ethanol was chosen because they knew it would fail miserably, and that is just more ammo they can use later to say nope, alternatives don't work, not there yet. Sadly there are alternatives that do work, but you rarely hear about them in the major media. You have to actually go looking for them. And for that matter check this out The Swedes have it right, and here is another potential alternative method of transportation. And while not directly related it is still a valid point

?And you actually think these same clowns are still qualified to pick the next energy winner? Talk about cognative disconnect!?

No, these clowns only follow the money given to them in the form of contributions. That's all that matters to them. After all it seems that is how policy is decided in this nation now, not by the vote but by the largest contributor. devil
