Actually, we didn't elect Bush. The Supreme Court appointed
him.

Of course they listen to their pollsters. Any politician who says
he doesn't pay attention to polls is lying. The spend millions of
dollars on polls. Why would they do that if they weren't going to
pay attention to them?
The problem with advisors is not whether you listen to them or
not. It's whether or not they have vested interests in steering
policy one way or another. For instance, say they had
connections to a big corporation that stood to make billions of
dollars if we invaded a backward, impoverished country in the
middle east. They might be tempted to make sure that
happened, even if it caused the deaths of a thousand US
servicemen and thousands of defenseless civilians and made the
