Wireless Access in South America
Is a lot better than the US, you can even find a Cafe internet in the middle of the Amazon or at the top of an isolated mountain. Cell phone coverage, well, companies are not allowed to drop calls (come again, no dropped calls?? yes none!!!), give me a break. I live in the US, but technology wise in communication, its actually lagging behind the rest of the World due to its current regulations and profit based corporations. Try to get either in a remote country high way in ND, or Upper Michigan?? or most non eastern states?

The usd188 laptops (if we consider that the dollar has lost over 50% of its value during the past 7 years) it means that these little things cost 125 each in 2000 usd's.

Couple that with the wireless service access, and it means a lot. You also add the fact that it can power it self through a solar panel or a hand charger and you don't need to fork money for electricity. Add to it that it has a higher DB range over any high priced laptop and that it uses LINUX and not Windows.

This is good for the World, not too good for corporations, who will want in on a market that may reach 2 billion (with a b) people (thats a 700 billion dollar market, bigger than anything else in the World).

Kudos Negroponte, I'm buying one for my kid and helping you out!.
