Security is not a learning experience
And it's not something you can bolt on to a product. Security is one of the pillars of the very core of your system. If it's not a concern from the moment the first plank is laid, you'll always be tying yourself in knots to keep the holes plugged.

Like Microsoft.

I'm glad they learned something from previous epic disasters but I've seen first hand what it takes to keep a Windows enterprise running relatively clean and it's a constant battle. If you want to run a Death Star secure Windows network, it's another order of insanity above that.

Things are a little better with Vista, but it's hard to see how they could be much worse. It took MS until XP SP2 to get their security above the pork-at-will level. So now they're lauding their dismal security history as some type of achievement?

Whoever runs their PR must have a massive pair of large caliber brass ones to hang a lantern on that chapter of Windows development.
