Having worked in many small businesses
either as an employee or a consultant, I can tell you that you are full of it! Further, what you are advocating here is also a typically a licencing violation (as Windows software is per seat, not network, so you need a copy/licence per machine). You have just advocated what is called piracy (or violation of usage licence).

If you scale it to something like an SBC (formerly Pacific Bell) corporate office, there is a network/support guy and all the desktops are locked down (so as to prevent legal/licence problmes) and the periodic audit (to prevent nasty legal issues).

I am not sure what yor knowledge of Linux (or Unix in general), but from what you have posted I am betting it is not much!As one who does Windows (various interations), Linux (various distribs), BSD (various distribs), Solaris and AIX, I can tell you that you are wrong!
