not all MCSE's are "incompetent"..

Most of the reason people see the MCSE's as incompetent are due to those lovely little 2 week bootcamps that people can walk into and be taught how to take a test. These people are the ones who give people who have real working environment experience a bad name. You don't know how many times i've gone to a job interview and been asked if I've taken the tests after real world experience and personal studies or if I attended a "bootcamp". I always get a laugh out of that, then telling them "yes i attended a bootcamp, but it was for the USMC, not to attain a piece of paper from MS". I've attainted many certs, but not once have I gone to a bootcamp.

These bootcamps make people like most of us who have worked our tails off to get these certs look bad. All employers get a bad taste in their mouth after hiring a dime store MCSE, so it reflects onto all of us, not matter what cert we have received. I'm sure soon enough we'll have these same bootcamps for linux certs, novell certs, cisco certs etc. Yes these people who pass these tests thanks to the bootcamps are worthless, but employers fall for it time after time.
