I agree
...not with your title though. I agree that is FAR easier to point out the flaws of the most popular desktop operating system on earth than to start a software company. Starting a software company takes ability, vision, and perseverance. A child can point out the flaws in Windows.

That said, however, you'll notice that several software companies have indeed been started in an effort to make a better desktop than Windows. A couple have even succeeded in creating a better OS. They don't have the market share yet because they have yet to create a better desktop PLATFORM (by platform I mean OS plus available applications). Although you'll notice that these platforms are already better for certain individuals than Windows is. And if MS is still struggling with security for the next three years, you'll see these alternative platforms close the gap enven further, making them better than Windows for even more people.
