I would gather it means
that most video games do not teach its players the applicable skills in the fields that they portray because those simulations don't the same long earned physical tactile learning that a gamepad can't. People aren't on a real skateboard or using a real gun in the wild or a real guitar with the proper learning of strings and cords and/or music theory. A musician would scoff at a guitar hero player boosting of their musical skills when they could only brag about their button mashing skills, I would guess.
