Lack of creativity among outsourcers
is a more serious long term problem than the more short term issue of customer service. Loss of a few customers can make it an immediate loss but even if maintained, the company as a whole will face market erosion as innovation is dampened. Those companies thinking they can have their suppliers innovate for them are only fooling themselves. They won't even be in a position to evaluate them in any meaningful way. The real reason outsourcing is cheaper is cost is about the only thing that can be measured. None of the really important things can be meaningfully quantified, quality, time, innovation, etc.
