Clarification on Dell, etc.
Reality check: Dell released a public media notice to the effect it was planning on bringing its tech support call center back to the US - there is no evidence that they actually did this - they simply brought over language teachers to smooth out the accents of their Indian workers.

People who have never grown up with computers are not going to learn in-depth computer science overnight - anyone in this field knows what the extensive requirements are in order to successfully solve many tech problems and issues. As one who used to work as a contractor at Microsoft, among other companies, prior to their offshoring all those tech support jobs - I can attest that many of their core issues were unsolvable by their "senior engineers" (i.e., simply Ivy League boys and girls new to the world of high tech...) but were elegantly solved by the frequently much more intelligent and knowledgeable contractors. NOW THEY RELAY UPON INDIAN SCREEN READERS. 'Nuff said....
