Idenity Theft
I, also, thought idenity theft happened to the "other guy" until one morning I openend by email to find that Pay Pal was making 2 charges totaling $96.78 to an unknown person and using my "Cancelled" credit card. While I was in the process of deleting my info from the Pay Pal site, another request for $l,720 came through asking for my authorization of payment to the same person. I denied payment and one of the charges said it was denied at the other end. A $76 charge went through, and then I had to fight with American Express for 2 months to get the charge deleted.

Previous to this incident, I had bought a $4000 TV over the Internet, shopped for 3 cars to get the final price, and purchased numerous other things. I will never place my credit card on the internet again. I will shop, but will consumate the deal via phone or check. I know this is not a solution, but there really is no solution right now, and it is getting worse every day.
