All Valid Points, But..
...not enough people have been hurt by the current way of doing business to force the necessary changes. While identity theft gets a lot of press and air play, it is obviously not as common as household burglary or auto theft. If it were, people would take care to secure their information in the same way that they instinctively and automatically lock the doors to their cars and houses.
