OLPC is corrupt
Whenever any UN or other allegedly "charitable" or "diplomatic" group purports to sell something to developing nations for prices way below what the market bares elsewhere, my BS alarm starts ringing. Groups like this have a record of waste, graft, and outright theft.

Either they intentionally misled people about the cost of the laptop from the get go, or, they are inept and need to come clean about how the costs suddenly doubled. Poor people aren't stupid, either.

I hope that the countries considering the OLPC machine also take a look a the ASUS EEE and the CLASSMATE PC computers. Perhaps competition will force OLPC to avoid graft.
