- I think that perhaps your point of view is a little uninformed. If you go back 20 generations at 20 years each generation the US wasn't even in existence. That would be far enough back to link most people in the US to their motherlands. Go back 600 years and you just get deeper into their ancestry. And yes, there have been enough migrants to the US (and other nations) in the past 400 years to link people all over the world to each other.
