RE: Week in review: Apple thinks differently about iPhone
I realize how useful SDKs are, but, when a brand new platform is launched, SDKs are rarely available. And if you want to develop for the Wii, PS3, and the 360 and don't work for a video game company, then you're SOL. They're never gonna release an SDK. Computer developers have it easy. Look at the poor homebrewers, where updates are specifically designed to lock out new apps (PSP is an exellent example). Oh, in case you missed it, the "iPhone Elite Dev Team," a splinter group formed from members of the "iPhone Dev Team," says that bad code was what bricked upgraded iPhones. The iPhone Elite Dev Team has released code that should fix bricked iPhones. The upgrade didn't intend to brick the phone, it was an unfortunate side effect. On consoles, the companies actually intend to break homebrew apps.
