Sony may not have it at the top of their list but backward compatibility (IMHO) is a major issue for many consumers. I know it is for me and I think of myself as being somewhat normal. If I cannot use things I purchased for at least one preceding model of any electronic device what impetus is there for me to stick to that particular brand? I currently use Palm OS PDA and the main reason I do? Yep, you guessed it because the first one I bought was Palm OS and I wanted to be able to continue to use the applications I purchased previously.

Same thing goes for the Play Station. There are some really good sounding games that are only made for the PS3. However, there are some that are only available for Xbox. I?m am NOT going to purchase two systems so, without backward compatibility my PS2 games are just as good in a PS3 as they would be in an Xbox.
