First there was Marathon (Mac-only), the precursor to Halo. Marathon 2 for Mac &
Windows.

Halo was shown at the 1999 MacWorld to great enthusiasm and acclaim only to
have MS buy it up in 2000.

As suggested, as much to put a damper on the Mac as anything at the time.

Now that MS has the "crown jewels" in Halo, the rest of Bungie can "just go away".
