I actually agree with you
but not for the same reason. Regulation or not, Open Source is everywhere and getting stronger and stronger. MS simply does not have 1/20th the entire open source development resources. IBM, Google, and countless hundreds of thousands, Open Source on every front MS wants to win is there. Sometimes it wins, sometimes it loses, but it is everywhere.

In every way, every conceivable application, Open Source has an offering. (many currently not as good as prorietary counterparts, price helps them).

There is actually a sense of growth and excitement in IT, the internet, etc (unlike the MS frontpaged web universe of 2000-2001) with all the great new abilities coming. Which of these are owned or controlled or depend on MS?
