As stated earlier, I do not believe in punishment. Never. But... Our laws work on the principle of "revenge" / punishment. I have to accept that.

To discourage further trust abuse (eg., so not all of WWW is IE), one should make it clear to all this behaviour will not be tolerated in the EU. Money received from MS will find it's way to more usefull destinations; Microsoft will survive this half a billion claim without breaking a sweat. Hell, they probably had the money reserved already and got a discount by the intrest on it! ;p

I fail to see how this fine will shift the market powers for just a bit. All will go on, and MS has won the www battle. The "cost" of this monopoly of just $5*10^8 is almost a bargen... I bet MS would do it all over again when presented with the choices and the knowledge we have in '007.

And concerning the proposed new "remedy"... I would love to hear some ideas ; -)
