But At What Cost?

lets just make everyone pay 20% taxes for what they earn, earn a 1000 pay 20, this way everyone is treated equal, 20 cents on the dollar, rich or poor but then again, there I go thinking logical again, the rich would never go for that"

"I think a 1% sales tax and a dollar gas tax. That way, everyone only pays for what they use. The poor pay less because they buy less, the rich pay more because they buy more. And those of us in the middle, we can pay more or less depending on what we want to buy."

Both are excellent points. Anything is better than what we have now. (Where do I vote for you?)But, both of you forgot one critical thing. It would have to be 30% and 10% respectively to cover unemployment and severances for the then out-of-work employees of one of the the biggest employers in each State, (the Tax Revenue Department)!!
