- A-Holes! Apple premeditated the iPhone price drop?
-
Ya think? Even before the product was released? Wow, I betcha they did! Wouldn't they be incompetent if they didn't? I am quite sure there is an entire department devoted to considerations such as "price point" and strategies relating to future price drops and when to drop them. It's part of product marketing, you imbecile!
Do you think companies just sit back and flip a coin about when to drop their prices? Well, I assure you they do not. There's a whole procedure involved. It's called market analysis. Jobs and other Apple execs looked at the other products on the market and figured that they wanted to lower the prices in order to meet certain sales goals this holiday season.
I guess a Socialist entitlement mentality abounds around here. Some of you guys must feel entitled to an iPhone the day it is released and think that there should be no financial consequences for being an early adopter. Well, here's a news flash for you: Apple created the product. If they had wanted to charge $1000 for an iPhone, they would have had every right to. And if they want to drop the price after a few months, more power to them. They must think they can still make money on the deal and get it into more people's hands by Christmas if it's a couple hundred bucks cheaper.
This is a free-market economy, part of a capitalistic society, not some Third-World throwback to the good ol' days of the Soviet Union! Next time, wait a few months like the smart people do before buying a brand new, premium-priced gadget. Perhaps then you won't feel nearly as stung by the barb of corporate American capitalism. - Posted by: voicebox5 Posted on: 09/10/07 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
