Kudos to Jobs
Hehe, store credit? Not quite the same as cash. Every time there is a story about how Microsoft donates billions of dollars to charity and it is then announced that some of that donation consisted of Microsoft products, the Apple zealots go NUTS. Same thing here. Actually, no, this is much worse because Apple is fixing an egregious error on their part by forcing you to buy more Apple products hoping to cement their monopoly even further. When MS gives to charity, it isn't to fix some wrong doing, it is because MS is generally a charitable company.

However, kudos to Steve Jobs for at least doing something to fix this publicity nightmare. The fact that Apple will probably come out looking even better than before the price drop is just a nice bonus: Awww, Apple made a mistake but look at how well they handled it! I love Apple! I will buy everything from Apple now! Ahhh, that kool-aid sure tastes good going down! Hey, what are those blinders that have appeared over my eyes? RDF? What does that mean?

The right thing to do was not to gouge your customers in the first place but I suspect this was part of the plan from day 1. Screw your early customers, admit to screwing them and then give "store credit" to make Apple look like a company that really cares. No one knows how to manipulate a market better than Apple does!

And as an added bonus, I now get to LAUGH AND LAUGH AND LAUGH at all the Apple zealots who said that dropping the price $200 2 months after the release was no big deal and that nothing should be done about it. What do you say now that Jobs has personally called all of you liars?
