Open Source Is Multiple Source
Linux is already way beyond second source it is multiple source, if your are able or willing to spend the money, it is unique to you source and longs as you don't distribute it. The reality is it is all about trust, the Beast has blown it because of greed and there is NO coming back. This is the same for any "single source" company, once you get majority market share and abuse the trust consumers placed in you expect them to seek alternates. MS single handedly created open source by it's behaviour and now all the other closed source companies that are heavily reliant on the trust of their customers now suffer as a result, trust of closed source software is now based upon the quality of their warranties. The last time I checked a MS update/patch warranty they wouldn't even gaurantee that it was free of viruses's (and they still have the gall to expect to be able to supply anti-virus software).
