Enough with the megapixels!
This is overkill. Nobody needs that many pixels, unless you are planning to display your images on a highway billboard. All those megapixels are just a waste of memory space.

Instead, manufacturers should focus on improving other aspects of a camera, such as:
1, Wider angle lens (28 mm or smaller focal lenses)
2. Faster lenses (apertures greater than f/2.8).
3. Faster response time. The digital camera lag time is terrible!
4. More compact camera bodies. Nobody wants to lug a huge weight around their necks!
5. More powerful flash. A flash that reaches only a 10 or 12 feet (3 - 4 meters) just isn't enough.
6. Larger CCD chips for less noisy pictures.
7. Better low-light performance, through a combination of several of the above factors (faster lens, larger CCDs, more powerful flash, ...).

Just increasing the number of pixels by itself is a gimmick that can actually make low-light performance even worse.
