E6-B Ancient?

E6B's are alive and well, and are an intrinsic part of any real quality flight training. I would dump an instructor who would consider this device to be obsolete.
Actually, when electronic versions came out in the 90's, I proudly showed mine off to my Flight Instructor, and he just shrugged his shoulders, as I called him a dinosaur. Later on a cross country flight, he instructed me to divert to another airport, and I pulled out my new toy. As I hit the on button and nothing happened, I turned to see the bastard was picking his nose with one of my AA batteries! I humbly dug into the bottom of my bag for a pencil, and my trusty, never to be forsaken again old E6-B. I shun GPS, and I still use it today! :-D Lesson learned: New does not necessarily mean more effective!~
