E-voting predicament: Not-so-secret ballots
Advocates of e-voting machines give your heads a shake.
Since inception these machines have been ridden with faults, not the least of which now seems to be loss of your right to a secret ballot. Can you not learn from other nations methods? In Canada and many other countries there is NO way one can track anyone's choice of candidates, worry about little pieces of paper that did or didn't fall out, be concerned with power outages, broken machines or questionable machine programming. It's really pretty simple. They call it PAPER BALLOTS. Wow, now that's something new! And it works!
I can hear the chorus now..."But then we have to wait for the results" Duh? You wait now while someone sorts out the mess.
The only downside to paper is that it gives you a permanent record of each and every ballot cast thus depriving anyone arguing over the results. But then, maybe that's undemocratic.
