We have a right to privacy. Period.
If you choose you give up that right (either online or in the real world), that's your own account.
The problem with the online privacy issue is that it's not plainly obvious to many that you are giving up that right. Now, I'm not going to cry about some moron that chooses not to read the terms of usage. However, all those morons combined are beginning to outnumber those who see privacy as a right. And so companies are beginning to bully the well-informed folks too.
I mean, look at the way that banks charge for EVERY service now? Or the phone companies forcing you to pay for long distance? Or the grocery stores that have fewer baggers, fewer cashies, that expect you to scan your own items and don't lower prices unless you get a "bonus" card that allows them to track all of your purches and tie it to your credit cards.
There are too many people out there that are willing to sell their freedom for a toy.
