I am not sure I get your writing. Alot of blurb that amounted to nothing. Your heading relates to "why register...". Your argument relates to your feeling like eveyone should or should not register. I was puzzled.

Most news websites now require registering with personal information just to read various articles. Be it that you must get clobbered with marketing ads plastered all over the screen, along with numerous, bandwidth gobbling popups, who cares WHO I am reading the article. On public websites, only the basic (ie. username, password and perhaps zipcode) is ALL anyone should need, unless their motives are evil.
