Yah, BUT...
I believe the energy-saving potential of these bulbs makes them well worth owning, and the motive behind passing a law that bans the incandescent lightbulb is honorable, but methinks there's something missing.

If Congress requires everyone to purchase these bulbs whether they like it or not, then who is to be responsible when one of these bulbs explodes? I read a disturbing story about a woman who has quarantined her daughter's bedroom with tape due to such an incident.

No one can enter the room, and her house is in serious violation of Health and Safety codes. Unfortunately for her, no one is assuming financial responsibility for this problem, and she cannot afford costs to have the mess cleaned out!!!

If the government is going to require all Americans, regardless of income, to venture the serious and potentially fatal risks associated with purchasing, installing, using, and simply being around these hazardous things, I think they'd better be ready and willing to foot at least a decent portion the cleanup bill when one of these things blows up. What with the millions of homes and other buildings in this country, it will certainly happen again. And it will happen many more times than just one.
