About costs?
He's wrong about the costs? Hardly. Most of the power grids in the US are already overloaded to the point of collapse with little provocation. Add a few more megawatts of consumption for charging cars and it all simply melts down.

Upgrade the infrastructure? Sure! Guess where that money will come from. Go ahead. Guess.

And, that's not taking into account the need to actually generate the additional megawatts worth of jumping electrons.

Nuclear? Sure! How many years does it take to design one, get it approved, locate it, build it, and start it up. What do we do 'til then?

Thermal? Sure! That covers some small areas of a few states.

Solar? Sure! That covers some small areas of a few states, discounting the exorbitant costs of actually building the systems.

Hydro? Sure! Dam up the Grand Canyon, and all the other canyons and valleys that can hold back some water. Endangered species? Psshaw! Ecological disaster? Psshaw! Costs? Psshaw! Construction time? Psshaw! New roads, bridges, phone and power lines, etc...? Psshaw! Costs of displaced homes, farms and businesses + lost productivity, goods and crops? Psshaw!

Wind? Sure! That'll take care of the needs of a community, or two.

Tidal? Sure! (see hydro)

Hamsters on a treadmill? Sure!....
