Interesting how the majority of software that allows this is sold by companies and that the target OS is Windows in over 95% of the offerings.

I happen to use Linux, and I happen to rent and purchase DVDs. I also happen to purchase software that is written for Linux as well as send payments to those groups who's efforts I use. We also paid for Star Office.

Your profiling is incorrect and is based on a small percentage of the user base (those that end up in the news). You might want to try using some facts (and as we have already seen from some other ZDNET blogs about google hit counts, hit counts are not factual) instead of a skewed representation.

I know of Windows users that love to "share" their music, movies and software, but you don't see me painting all Windows users as thiefs. I also know of other Linux and FLOSS users that run their businesses with paid software and support contracts. Hard as it may be to believe, the OS or choice of software, does not put you in the "shared P2P music" camp.
