Come on now...
It took me a while to realize that Lovey's "My rep and I" posts are almost uniformly made with tongue planted firmly in cheek. On the occasions that he makes "real" posts, he has shown himself to be anything but an NBMer. Sometimes his comments on Linux make me think he just hasn't tried it since the 90s. Let's face it...early versions of Linux required one to be at least comfortable in a Unix environment just to get into the basics. Unfortunately many people, even highly respected IT professionals, have the same opinion which was formed in the same way. For better or worse, first impressions are often the only ones that count. It took Microsoft a number of years to convince corporate IT departments to trust their operating system, and that was only achieved after spending millions and millions of dollars on marketing and aggressive sales practices that eventually wound up getting them into anti-trust litigation. Linux adoption will be slower primarilly because there aren't the same dollars being spent in marketing. Because of this, it'll take possibly decades rather than years to overcome the first impressions Microsoft was able to buy their way out of.
