Big target...

Google is a big target with lots of money. These shameless media companies are trying to extort Google.

Google "promptly" addresses complaints. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. These media companies can't get any lower or more disgusting. They won't get another dime from me.

The real argument here is who should be able to control information, how much of it, and for how long?

Read the views of the Founders of the USA. Most of them were of the belief that all information was for the benefit of all and should be in the public domain. Copyright was intended to be a very short period of exclusivity to serve as a motivating factor for content creation. Copyright was not originally intended to be used as the basis of a long-term business model nor was it meant to effectively lock-up information and content forever.
