Pretty shortsighted...
in this case. We are all better off if patent 'trolling' attacks don't work. Don't forget, this can help quash rumours of MS holding patents against FOSS as well!

The merits of the patents aside, the original jury award was ridiculous because US courts can't reasonably count 'violations' within foreign markets, especially as those markets often (all?) have different patent rules....

MS is not the devil - just a company that has somewhat lost its way. It needs to be reined in, and refocussed onto its customers rather than the short-term bottom line.
