Fun versus transport
I guess I'd equate this to whether or not I'd want humans in control of the vehicle, or whether I'd prefer computers to handle it all.

Personally, the idea of having computers run everything is ok with me, providing there was a way for humans to intervene in specific circumstances.

I know there are many who have been caught in traffic jams, and this idea (the article, not my reply) would be a godsend.

As we are just starting out on this road, its possible to put in place standards requiring computer controlled flight, and the airspace can be regulated as such, so it might be possible to do.

And despite the current high cost of flight control systems, once manufactured to a large scale, costs should come down considerably, so this shouldnt pose a problem.

I'm all for it.

And in addition to this, I'd prefer these discussions to eventually take on aspects of VTOL (vertical take off and landing), as this would remove limitations of needing a runway, which I can see as a large problem in current urban areas.
